Fremont District 79 is a high-performing suburban school district with state-of-the art facilities in one of Lake County’s hottest areas for growth and development. The District draws students from seven different municipalities across Lake County: Hawthorn Woods, Grayslake, Libertyville, Long Grove, Mundelein, Round Lake, and Wauconda.

Students will continue their education at Mundelein High School (District 120). The school has a strong academic program with more than 87 percent of graduates continuing their education at post- secondary institutions. The school offers a wide range of challenging courses, including honors and advanced placement courses that are open to all interested students. The school also offers special education services, ELL and bilingual classes. Qualified students may also take courses at the nearby College of Lake County as well as at the Lake County High School’s Technology Campus. The school offers more than 40 extracurricular programs, clubs and activities as well as a comprehensive athletic program of 31 varsity sports for men and women. MHS has a highly educated staff who exhibit a commitment to quality education. The school has earned numerous national awards.

Parks & Recreation

The Meadows At Liberty Lakes is in the eastern portion of the Liberty Lakes community which has over 800 homes. There are two parks mantained by the Wauconda Park District within walking distance. Sedgebrook Park has a basketball court, tennis courts, a playground, a gazebo, and open fields for play. Fieldbrook Park has a soccer field, baseball and softball fields, ice skating in the winter, and a playground.

Wauconda is well known for Bangs Lake, a 300 acre natural glacier lake in the center of Wauconda which is great for family recreation. Activities include fishing, boating, water skiing, and swimming. The lake is stocked with a variety of fish species, including largemouth bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, and northern pike, making it a popular destination for anglers. There are several public boat launches and parks around the lake, including the Wauconda Park District Beach, which offers a sandy beach, swimming area, and picnic facilities.

In addition to outdoor activities, Bangs Lake is surrounded by several local businesses, including restaurants, shops, and accommodations. The lake is also near several other popular attractions in the area, including the Lake County Forest Preserves, Volo Bog State Natural Area, and the Fox River Trail.
